Lucy Earle writes simple songs and sings them loudly for you to enjoy. They're about you, other random people, and everything that got us here. A bartender once said, "your music sounds like if you googled Old Music". Merci!
Sofia Miller, is an independent solo artist, producer based in Victoria, British Columbia. She released her first full-length studio album, ‘Prologue’ independently in February of 2024. Featuring her creative guitar licks and clear-voiced, direct lyricism, 'Prologue' is at heart a confessional about her early twenties and the emotional growing pains they come with.
Lockimara is the brainchild of 26-year-old Nick Gay. Having started the project when he was 17 in Montreal, the original idea was to make music that was Elliott Smith meets MBV
meets math rock. Flashing forward to 2022, however, Gay found himself back in his home city of Vancouver, coming out of Covid times in a disoriented state, realizing that he had virtually stopped playing music for four years. After two years of attempting to turn this realization into empowerment, Lockimara now slowly opens it’s eyes as Gay finishes the production of a new album. Borrowing from an eclectic and unexpectedly harmonious cast of artists, listeners can expect to recognize pieces of Alex G, AG Cook, Caroline Polacheck, and Spirit of the Beehive in
Gay’s unconventional songwriting. Delicate acoustic guitar sits underneath vibrant auto-tuned harmonies while metal guitar battles against psychedelic synthesizers. Overtop of it all, however, lie catchy and ear-wormy melodies. In recognizing the vulnerability of this project, Gay boldly aims to harness this record as the firm inertia behind Lockimara’s movement back into the music scene as a staple of Canada’s underground scene.
Importantly, Gay seizes the opportunity this November to play his more intimate and stripped down songs in back to back shows in Montreal and Toronto, aiming to let his love for production take a back seat to his reverence for vulnerable song writing. While shows with his full band are typically intense, loud, and exciting, Lockimara also has a deep sensitivity and melancholy that is best experienced through Gay’s lone vocals and acoustic guitar.
