About the artists

Australian based, award winning duo Minor Gold deliver 70’s cosmic Folk-Rock with easy charm and potent honesty. Currently on a massive North American tour, the pair will join forces with acclaimed singer songwriter Rebekah Hawker at the Burdock on Oct 15. Winners of the Queensland Music Awards 2024, Minor Gold have showcased officially at AmericanaFEST in Nashville, Folk Alliance International in Kansas City and this year at Folk Music Ontario Conference and Your Roots are Showing in Ireland in 2025.

Rebekah Hawker is a captivating performer known for her self-deprecating humor, infectious energy, and heartfelt lyrics. Her music blends traditional country and folk with a contemporary flair, showcasing her powerful voice and refined songwriting. Her stage presence transforms potentially somber themes into joyful, cathartic experiences for her audience.

Rebekah’s debut single 'Round of Fools' was released in 2019 and quickly found placement on Spotify's 'Fresh Finds' editorial playlist. In 2020 Rebekah’s song ‘Catch You’ won Folk Music Ontario’s Songs from the Heart award and in 2022 she was selected as an official showcasing artist at their annual conference. She was a selected participant in the 2023 RBC x Music Entrepreneurship Program at Daniels Launchpad Toronto and in 2024 was a Mariposa Folk Festival Emerging Artist; 1 of 4 finalists selected out of 209 applicants. Her recent single “Ticket” can be heard on rotation on SiriusXM’s North Americana radio channel.

“Ticket” is a classic midtempo country song about two things that never go out of style, in any genre: broken hearts and broken dreams. She sings of bastards and radio play, social media and getting ghosted, but flips the script in a canny way, declaring a positive outlook despite the rest: “I’m satisfied with the long shot / I’ve got a ticket.” With a new EP titled Quit My Habit set for release in Spring 2025, supported by FACTOR and Ontario Arts Council, Rebekah is embracing her artistic authenticity, blending 90s country influences with a curiosity for folk and other genres. A long shot, sure, but her satisfaction comes from the process of perfecting her craft and sharing the journey with others as she makes her way.
