Information

Solo Flights is a one-off event to showcase the skills of some of Toronto’s underrated virtuosos, focusing their talents in three solo performances on piano (vixu, James Atin-Godden), and guitar (Lennox Campbell-Berzins). In addition, the event is meant to celebrate the release of Lennox Campbell-Berzins debut instrumental album, “Lullabies For Lenny”, due for release Oct 11th, 2024, and also to serve as a late celebration for the release of James Atin-Godden’s solo-instrumental debut, “Music For Piano”, released earlier this year in the spring.

Despite all three virtuosos being singers, songwriters, and lyricists in their own right, “Solo Flights” is meant to spotlight their instrumental skills for one night and to celebrate their prowess and knowledge on their chosen instrument. In addition, the event is meant to spotlight and celebrate the instruments themselves - the self-sufficiency, versatility, and artistry of the piano and guitar.

About the artists

Lennox Campbell-Berzins:

Lennox Campbell Berzins is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, composer and educator based out of Toronto. A graduate of York University’s Music Department he has taught and performed on a variety of instruments including guitar, piano, drums, bass, and mandolin. A veteran of the music scene since 2008, he has performed in over a dozen different projects and has established himself as a bandleader as early as 2012. He has released 10 albums/eps in the span of a decade under numerous project titles, including Ruby Cikada, Broken Wolves, Lennox C.B., and Sleepy Demons.

As of Oct 2024, Lennox is due to release his first solo-instrumental album, “Lullabies for Lenny” - an album of jazz standards performed exclusively using the esoteric guitar technique of harp harmonics. A widely unknown and underrepresented technique, the style originated with Canadian Jazz guitar legend, Lenny Breau, for whom the album is humbly dedicated.
